For 2027 I have something special in mind! The mamouth walk is going to take on a new dimension and will be a BIG multi day expedition!
We will be visiting new cities and new places taking in a very different scene to previous years. We will be heading North for 2027.
You want more!? OK, there is more... Flying is on the agenda! No more crossing legs and hoping the driver can find somewhere to stop, we're going to do this one in comfort.
We will be partnering with PGL again for accomodation and catering, but obviously our expedition may take in some other forms of accomodation too!
What are we going to try and do: The Great North Road & The Roman Frontier
For 2027, we are trading the tour bus for hiking boots. Our journey will take us to the edge of the ancient Roman Empire for a 3-day expedition along Hadrian’s Wall. Our theme for the week is the Roman's and specifically architecture and engineering.
The Highlights:
The Hike: Navigating the dramatic crags and ruins of the Northumberland National Park.
The Heritage: Sleeping in historic bunkhouses and exploring the "Dark Skies" of the North.
The Cities: Comparing the medieval charm of Edinburgh with the industrial innovation of Manchester.
The Finale: Two days in the capital, London, before flying home
A Note on Informatics: Along the way, we will look at the engineering of the Roman world and visit the modern tech hubs of the North, exploring how British innovation has evolved from stone walls to silicon chips.
